Favorite Photo Friday

About a year or so ago I bought a fancy DSLR camera with the best of intentions. I had big dreams to photograph not only my trip to China but the beautiful subject I was bringing home.

But my inner procrastinator got the best of me and I never figured out how to use the camera beyond turning it to Auto. Until recently.

I have long admired the photos taken by Lisa at The Long Road to China blog. So I decided to take one of her online classes. Which is another reason February was so busy for me.

I'm a work in progress. I invested in a new lens to help give me better shots. But I need a lot of practice. It's a lot harder than it looks to shoot in Manual.

Just trying to get my fingers used to changing the settings is enough. But then working the formula of the proper shutter speed, ISO and F-Stop while chasing a 17 mth old.... like I said, need a lot of practice.

I also took Lisa's Photoshop class and am just starting to dabble in the fine art of post processing. This is my first attempt.
I wanted to blur the dirty garage door more but got a little lost. I kind of like the patina of it up against the bright white of the door though.

Maybe some day I'll be half as good as Lisa. Hoping anyway...

I took Lisa's class this past August & LOVE the outcome!! Congrats on taking the leap! It does get easier, I promise. Though I still have some problems getting my fingers & eyes to all work together sometimes. And I practice so much that my kids have begun turning their heads away from me when they see the camera (which is pretty much always). Still worth it, in my opinion ~ I've got a newborn photo shoot next week! Very excited!

Krista, I am so proud of you..... you have really come a long way and even though you feel like you are struggling, you are doing a fabulous job. You understand it all in theory, which is half the battle. Your fingers will eventually get with the program..... it just takes time and practice. I love this sweet shot of Mia....... I just want to reach out and give her a big smooch. Maybe I will actually be able to do that in August if you come to this area to visit.... would love to meet you both!!

Hope you girls are enjoying your weekend.

xoxo,

Lisa

Looks pretty good to me!! I used to know all that stuff and then got lazy - or my subjects got busier - or life did - or all of the above - but it's all good!

hugs - aus and co.
